The Queer Fears
Horror Trilogy - In Development (financing)
In scary movies, LGBTQ+ characters always die first. It’s weird, since the community’s known for survival. The Queer Fears are three micro-budget, horror films, where LGBTQ+ leads stop running, pick up the ax, and start taking names.
Nothing’s scarier than dating, so that’s the cycle’s theme. In LGBTQ+ relationships, three common issues are orientation, porn, and weight. Each movie takes one of these dealbreakers and makes it a literal killer.
LOGLINES
YOU, ME, & EVIL
In this horror-dramedy, a closeted, bi nerd takes his boyfriend on vacation. But his ex-girlfriend crashes. Also, the place’s run by a cult. It’s Please Like Me meets Midsommar.
SAFEWORD
In this psychological horror, a porn addict tries saving his marriage with a kink workshop. But it’s taught by his favorite porn star – who has deadly intentions. It’s The Girl Next Door meets Funny Games.
STUD
In this body horror, a 300-pound baker craves the perfect figure. So he finds a doctor, who promises fast results. But the process is literal torture. It’s My Fair Lady meets Hostel.
A SHARED UNIVERSE
Like The Conjuring-verse, The Queer Fears live in a shared world. Through references (small-town Tussen, Georgia College, ect...) the moves almost connect.
But they’re stand-alone films. When assembled, the cycle crafts a rural Georgia that’s as blue collar and scary as Stephen King’s Maine.
